Two years ago, Asna’s birthday wish was to have two pet hamsters. Last year, she was obsessed with Pet Society. Given the circumstances at home, nobody really had the time to cater to any pet. Nobody took Asna’s requests seriously until last week, when Asna discovered a newly-opened pet store here at Bukit Jelutong.
She asked Ayaji to drive her to the store after school. In front of the pet store, still in the car, Ayaji asked her what she wanted. This is roughly their conversation.
“A kitten. A black kitten!”
So my dad questioned her.
“If you poo, your parents clean you up. If the kitten poos, who will clean her up?”
Moment of silence.
Since then, Asna’s changed her mind- she no longer wanted a cat. I guess the thought of cleaning up cat’s poo is disturbing enough for her haha! My dad drove then her home.
Later that day, I asked her whether she wanted to accompany me to out. I told her that we could visit the new pet shop if she did, so she tagged along.
Strangely enough, at the pet store, she was not as interested in cats and bunnies as she previously did (that time I didn’t know of Ayaji’s conversation with her). She looked at the small fishes and told me she wanted a black fish, as if expecting me to buy it for her. I told her to go tell our parents instead. And we went home.
The next day, I could hear her coming home from school, very excited. I went down to see her jumping and she showed me this.
So hello ikan laga (betta fish), you’re the official household pet now! Ayaji let her have it since taking care of it isn’t as tedious as other pets.
Anyway. Asna was happy. Until Ayaji walked inside the pet store again today, from the launderette, while Asna, my mum and I were waiting in the car.
These are her raw reactions (I did not ask her to pose for these) in the car. According to sequence.
When my mum and I told her that Ayaji was going to get her new kitten.
“NO! I don’t want a kitten. I only want ONE pet (the fish at home)”
“Let me out! I want to go there!”
I know I tweeted this, but for the record, days ago Asna was drinking plain bottled water in my room. Her comment:
“Mmm. Not bad, not bad. Not bad at all”
Whatever la Asna.
