Max Brenner is a name I’ve heard from friends returning from Melbourne and only after six months of being here, I decided to try the chocolate bar out with my brother who had arrived the day earlier. It’s very much like Theobroma’s chocolate lounge, different types of chocolate drinks and chocolates to choose from, the only difference at Max Brenner’s is that it serves mostly desserts like waffles, crepes, fruits and chocolate pizza (if you fancy) instead of meals.
Brother ordered Suckao. He was given chocolates, unlimited steamed milk and some sort of candle burner to allow the melting and mixing of chocolates and the milk. Customers can determine how they want their hot chocolate to taste by mixing the amount of chocolates they want in the mini melting pot and drink using the metal straw cum chocolate scoop (#FAIL at naming utensils, gomennasai!). You can also choose whether you’d like dark, milk or white chocolate. Talk about customizing!
I drank Cookieshake in an Alice cup. A cold chocolate drink with a dash of cookie and pecans. It was really good! Very rich, creamy and filling as well. You gotta love the cup as well, kan? I like the fact that they named the cup…
That’s my Cookieshake!
Max Brenner also sells a wide range of chocolates, a lot readily wrapped as gifts. Great gifts for people back in Malaysia, if you’re headed to Melbourne.
