The entrance.

Tania held her reception on Friday. If the solemnization ceremony was very traditional, this one was a lot more modern. Before the bride and groom made their way into the hall, flowers girls in peach dresses came in to throw flower petals on the red carpet. Not sure if my eyes saw this correctly, but I think a man in an old scooter made an appearance, too.

Inspired by old Hollywood movies, they played this clip of Barbra Streisand singing The Way We Were (so emotional for an opening song, I felt sad for a while lol). Bridesmaids walked in, wearing modern interpretations of Holly Golightly’s LBD. Lights were dimmed once again as the bride and groom made their way to the hall.

The whole ceremony was almost like a romantic musical, at least up until the parents gave their hilarious speech. And when I mentioned that Tania’s the coolest bride I’ve come across, I was serious. She’s the one bride who’s capable of changing from her white Syaiful Baharim dress into something else, taking center stage and DANCING to Beyonce’s Love On Top with her sisters – they pulled it off so well!

I have no pictures of that moment though, but it’s pretty much like the video above. Colleagues and I enjoyed the ‘musical’.

Colleagues and I.

At the end of the performances, bride mingled with the crowd instead of shaking hands with the attendees at the door (as you would normally expect). When she moved to the floor to quickly say hi and take pictures with friends and family, Alicia Keys’ Empire State of Mind started playing. Very symbolic – because she was leaving for New York for a good two years (now, isn’t that what most of us dream of?!).

Sigh. I’ll miss her hilarious antics, but I’m happy that all is well and that she’ll be able to do what she’s been wanting to do.
