Asna’s birthday is actually on the 20th of November, but she had plenty of celebration done last week. First, it was the one night stay at Hard Rock Hotel Penang. The next day, we headed to Ipoh for her birthday party at a McDonald’s near my grandfather’s place. Few of my mom’s siblings are located in Ipoh and since there were plenty of kids around, the party turned out quite good.
The next day we returned home. Because Asna loves Japanese and since my family is now open to the dishes, I decided to treat everyone that night, a birthday dinner for Asna at Sushi Tei.
I am very choosy when it comes to food. I pick things I know I’d enjoy and I consider the costs! Asna doesn’t. With minimal ‘consultation’, I let Asna pick whatever she wanted to eat and drink that night – including an expensive plate of exotic prawn sushi she refused to eat right after she tasted a bit of it. Nevertheless, she was proud of herself for being able to finish a number of dishes, including a five-piece prawn tempura.
Once we were done, all of us headed to Zara Kids. On the day she fell in love with the store last month – “This could probably be my favorite store, ever!” – I’d promised her that I’d buy her new clothes from the store for her birthday. We went in half an hour before closing time, trying some of the best-selling pieces (according to the SA) which blended in well with her current wardrobe.
We picked a red floral button-down shirt, two white shirts and an edgy tan legging with zips for her. She had great fun trying them out, at the same time talking to her reflections in different voices – something she does often when she accompanies me in the fitting rooms -_-‘
When the time came for her to choose:
“So which one do you like? This one?”
“Okay then, what about this white shirt?”
“Or this white shirt?”
“You know you can’t have all, choose!”
“Oh, no, no! I can’t! I like all of them! Don’t make me choose!!!”
Pretty dramatic, with panic face and palms on her cheeks. At the end, we came back with the red floral shirt and the leggings. I’d try to make her model for you when we’ve the time.
So… that sums up Asna’s 8th birthday celebrations this year!
