The ever sleek Caroline Blomst.
Much of the fashion blogs I read are written by bloggers that are based overseas. Seems that it’s widely accepted that a leather jacket is a wardrobe staple when it comes to fall. Come fall, I’d find myself scrolling through pictures, gravitating toward the sleek, black leather jackets that the lanky ladies are spotted wearing, wondering, “Where did she get that?!”.
Anyway, we’re all aware of how impractical a leather jacket is for the scorching hot and humid local weather. But I think they’re still great to have, especially for traveling in colder places or for spicing out an outfit for a night outing — as long as you know the right pieces to pair a leather jacket with and the right places to wear it to, you’ll look fine. Dare to disagree, when I say that a beautifully made piece with a good cut can make a major difference to one’s look.
I have a cropped embellished leather jacket by H&M Divided at disposal that was purchase a few years ago, but (1) it’s cropped and (2) it’s embellished. Pretty edgy, but not very versatile. I thought, “A more minimalistic piece would be nice…” and then I found this sleek piece:
Leather biker jacket with padded shoulders from Zara. Now available in stores.
Tried looking for it in store, locally, but at the time there was none. So with a help of a friend who was based in London, I managed to grab a hold of the leather jacket. It’s now with me, after weeks of waiting and I can’t wait to wear it in Tokyo at the end of the year!
