Since my parents weren’t around, I was tasked to send Asna to British Council last weekend. I had to do a few things, so I’d told her that we’re going out earlier than usual because we’re heading to Publika. I knew she’d love it, thought I’d treat her a bit.

She initially thought of going to a friend’s birthday party before her class, but the idea of going to Publika light her up.

“There’s Moo Cow at Publika, right?”

I briefed her as we were leaving the house.

“Okay, at Publika we’ll get you Moo Cow, we’re going to a salon called Strip, we’ll buy food and then eat it while getting our hair washed at a salon. Is that alright?”

Soon as we arrived, we went to Moo Cow first and I got her favorite – original with strawberry sauce for topping. She took a picture with the golden cow.

Then to Strip. This time she took a picture with the furry orang utan placed on the bench.

Family reunited.

After that we dropped by Sushi Q for a while, where I’d gotten us a takeaway ebi sushi as per her request (when I’d rather eat sashimi). We settled with a salon which accepted walk-ins and ate the sushi as we got our hair washed.

While her hair was being dried:

“Cikyong, you need to look at the watch. We’re going to be late”

“No we’re not. It’ll only take 15 minutes to go to KLCC from here. We still have 40”

So far, everything was going as planned. As soon as we were done with our hair, we rushed to the car park, but as soon as we got out of Publika, it was raining. Heavily. You know what rain means in KL!

It poured and cars were moving slower than usual. By the time we reached Jalan Ampang (the place is located along the road), her class was about to start.

On the way, she went like:

“Oh no! We’re not going to make it on time!”

“I’m going to be late!”

“Darn it, I’m going to miss the spelling test!”

“CARS! What are you doing?! Move faster! I need to go to class!”

Asna sounded so distressed, talking like or rather mimicking the dramatic tone of the cartoon characters on Disney Junior. I thought, maybe she’s got some kind of OCD when it comes to being punctual.

“I knew we shouldn’t have gone to the Strip salon! You’re the WORST!”

WTF. What did I do? I retorted:

“Well, maybe we didn’t need to wash your hair”

She was taken aback.

“Maybe we should have gone to earlier! Like 12PM”

“I did want to, but you were playing Pokemon”

“Well, maybe you should have reminded me”

She was five minutes late (or so) and missed the weekly spelling test. Didn’t say thanks because she was upset and half mad at her lateness. Totally blamed me for it.

Ungrateful douchebag.

I felt like:

But there’s always a lesson to be learned. Maybe I should be more particular when it comes to time management. Maybe I need to incorporate a little more Asna in me.

You know what? For the past two days, I’m actually early for work.
