Here’s a confession — I haven’t shopped for a proper pair of trousers for two years. This has a lot to do with the fact that I wasn’t able to find a pair of black pants suited for work, that was in my size. Before I began working, I considered myself fortunate to have gotten a few pairs that would merely hang on my waist, but they aren’t in the cut I fancy and make me look like I’ve no arse at all. All these while I’ve longed for something that would properly fit my hips and thighs. Just imagine how I’ve looked at girls in their blazer and slim cut pants… with envy.
But then it occurred to me, that I’ve actually gained (planned) weight for the past few months. Why don’t I just give a pair of pants a try.
So I did when I entered Massimo Dutti. Although my appetite for clothes has been almost nil this season, the markdown signs still drew me in. I screened for a couple of working wardrobe worthy pants in the smallest size and tried them on. And you know what? They fit! In fact, some were a bit too tight. This discovery awed me.
It was a significant day for me, to know that I can now wear slim fit trousers with my shirts to work. I returned home with two pairs, because (1) they will be as good as my uniform on weekdays and (2) they’re on half price. Good buy? I’d like to believe so.
