Asna and I were on our way to ChurpOut in the afternoon. Whenever she’s in the car, we’d play Katy Perry’s One of the Boys. As usual, while the album is playing, Asna would remove the booklet from the album and read the lyrics, while I’d sing the lyrics that I remember, out loud.
Just when we reached the carpark, I Kissed A Girl was playing.
She doesn’t approve I Kissed A Girl. According to her, it’s vulgar. But I sang out loud anyway.
“I kissed a girl and I liked it!”
She stared at me. And whispered:
“You don’t kiss a girl! It’s lesbian!”
Anyway. We were heading toward the escalator which would bring us to the mall. The ground floor was six floors down. Since nobody was around the carpark, I continued singing the song, from the beginning.
“This was never the way I planned, not my intention…”
Asna was looking at our surrounding, conscious if anyone was going to hear me.
“Don’t sing it!”
“I got so brave, drink in hand, lost my discretion…”
She was signalling me to stop.
“Just not what I’m used to, just wanna try you on, I’m curious for you, caught my attention!”
Then the elevator door opened and we went in. It was just us in the elevator, so I sang louder as we were going down.
“I KISSED A GIRL AND I LIKED IT! THE TASTE OF HER CHERRY CHAPSTICK!”
Three floors to go, but the elevator stopped and the door was about to open! Asna was alarmed!
But nobody came in. Cue for me to continue.
“I KISSED A GIRL JUST TO TRY IT, I HOPE MY BOYFRIEND DON’T MIND IT”
It was the ground floor, time to exit. She thought I’d stop, but I continued singing, still, while we walked toward the mall.
By then she was hitting me, telling me to quit. People who were close enough could hear and she was getting very embarrassed.
“People will… Shut up! Shut it out!”
“It felt so wrong, it felt so right, don’t mean I’m in love tonight…”
“Shut it out!”
“I KISSED A GIRL AND I LIKED IT!!!”
“SHUT IT OUT!!!”
And she dared threatening me!
“SHUT IT OUT! Or or… I’ll force you to buy me SOMETHING EXPENSIVE!!!”
