When anybody asked where my ideal honeymoon destination would be in high school, my less imaginative self would say “Paris” in a heartbeat. The idea of strolling around with a significant other in the City of Lights, although mainstream, sounded so appealing.
Over the years, I stopped daydreaming and completely lost interest.
In fact, in the midst of planning for the wedding, the honeymoon became less of a concern. It’s not until people started asking us where we’re going, that we begin to realize the need to do something about it.
I wanted to return to Japan, but Reza didn’t want to go back. Reza wanted to go to Australia because he’s never been there, but I didn’t want to go back either!
At one point, I think we decided that it’s okay not to have a honeymoon. But my mum was so concerned and believed we’re entitled to it, that she offered to fund the flight tickets, at the same time stressing that we should be going somewhere new.
After weeks of dealing with flight search engines and weighing options and destinations, yours truly, the expert online shopper, managed to find super affordable tickets to Paris. Once our honorable flight sponsor (who was, I’d say, pretty impressed with the price I bagged) approved, with just a few clicks, we were set for our honeymoon!
Didn’t think I’d end up in Paris, but I did.
