Staying at Kayumanis Nusa Dua Private Villa & Spa in Bali

In Bali, it’s best to stay at villas, I was told. It’s where you get lots of space to yourself and be treated like royalties with your own personal chauffeur, butler and chef.

It took me months of obsessing over different villas online on TripAdvisor — one that particularly caught my attention was Kayumanis Villa & Spa. Kayumanis is one of the names in Bali when it comes to luxurious villas, with resorts sprawled across the island. Its villas receive high ratings on TripAdvisor and is known to provide impeccable service. After going through the options, I chose to stay at Kayumanis Nusa Dua.

Briefly, here’s why I chose Kayumanis Nusa Dua:

  • Amazing villas
  • Impeccable service
  • Plenty of complimentary stuff

1. The chauffeur

We arrived at Bali late. Kayumanis was aware of the flight delay and upon hearing that we arrived, sent our personal chauffeur to pick us up at the airport.

The chauffeur, in his Kayumanis suit, greeted us, introduced himself and led us to our ride. On the way to the villas, the chauffeur offered us drinks and cinnamon cookies. He asked about our plans and gave us suggestions on where to go, told us to give the reception a call if we needed his service. To be driven to our villa in a nice car and provided great service was really cool.

When we wanted to go somewhere nearby, the shuttle was there to send us. If we needed a lift back to the villa, we just had to call the chauffeur.

Just before we bid goodbye to the villa too, they made sure that our chauffeur was there to send us back to the airport.

2. Amazing villas

The personal butler assigned to us led us to our villa. Walked in between tall walls covered with climbing leaves that if felt like we were in a maze. After we arrived, the personal butler showed and brief us about the different sections of Jake, our villa. He also gave us the numbers we could call if we needed anything before excusing himself.

Reza handed the responsibility of booking this villa completely to me. He read about it, however not into it as I much as I was. I thought that the villa was amazing as I stepped into it. Curious to know what he thought about it, since he seemed so cool as the butler was introducing us to the villa, I later asked:

“So… what do you think?”

With a gleam in his eyes, he said:

“Awesome gila!!!”

Good to know 😆

So here’s Jake, our villa, one of the 20 luxury villas at the resort. Jake’s located farthest from the road and one of the nearest to the beach. The villa consisted a spacious pool, a bedroom, a living and dining room, outdoor shower and tub and toilet and a landscaped yard.

The pool

Oh, we loved the pool. Every morning, we woke up to the sound of the waterfall and birds chirping, with this glorious view of it.

I always love turquoise pools. The pool at Jake was adequately warm because it gets enough sun, so it was nice.

Since the bed was directly facing the pool, we could just wake up and roll into the pool if we wanted! We were obsessed with it, dipping into it every morning, every noon and every night 😆

The bedroom

The bedroom had glass walls, with wooden blinds to cover them. At the center of the room was a 4-poster bed covered with sheer curtain. The room was tastefully decorated with Balinese art and fresh flowers. There was also cable TV and beneath it, a bottomless minibar — we could get them to replenish the stock any time.

Kayumanis also offered us the turndown service, so in the evening, the butlers would come in to shut the blinds and prepare the bed by releasing the curtain.

On the other end of the bedroom, was the place where we could store our belongings.

The bathroom

The back door of our bedroom led us to the outdoor bathroom. We bathed in the tub, surrounded by the manicured garden.

Sometimes we use the shower, too.

The whole setting is meant to pamper. Kayumanis provided bath creme, salt body scrub, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner and refilled them for us everyday. They all smelled like cinnamon (except for the salt scrub). I loved them!

Although it’s outdoor, it the area was properly covered, so despite taking a bath in a yard and showering without a roof, we felt that there was privacy.

The living room

Just across, was our spacious living room. Completely separate from everything else.

Here’s where we chill, in our spacious living room covered with glass walls. There’s a comfortable couch, a CD player where we can play music (as long as the glass doors are shut properly, the other guests won’t hear a thing!), a dining table and chairs and a pantry. The room was decorated with traditional ornaments and furniture.

We were served fresh fruits and biscuits on the coffee table, daily.

It was also where we received our complimentary 30-minute massage by the masseurs of the Kayumanis Spa!

The yard

The yard was just in front of the living room. It’s rather spacious, think before it’s meant for special occasions. Kayumanis could set up a private candle-lit romantic dinner if, beneath the stars and beside the pool if we wanted to.

3. Complimentary dining

Part of the reason why I chose Kayumanis Nusa Dua is because they’re very generous when it comes to food.

When we first arrived, our complimentary welcome pudding and cinnamon tea was waiting for us inside the living room.

The butler handed us the menu and told us that we could call the kitchen and order anything in the morning to get our complimentary breakfast. Here’s the thing that makes Kayumanis different than most places — we could order just any dish from the menu at any time of the day and it will be served to our villa.

“Bestkan? We can order everything on the menu!”

Reza thought it was ridiculous of me to think that I could have everything, so he asked the butler on the limit to what we can order. The butler said there was none! Only that we could make the order once a day.

So everyday, we had brunch with this ridiculous spread, trying new dishes off the menu every day, without shame. What you don’t see here, are more dishes on the counter beside the dining table.

After 15 minutes or making the order, our butlers will stop by and serve them on our table.

They were definitely my kind of breakfast. Stuffed myself full everyday.

I loved everything!

Also, if we’re around at about 5PM, they’d serve us tea, complimentary. We just needed to give them a ring.

If we’re still hungry in the middle of the night, we’d just call the kitchen and order food. They provided halal meats every time we requested for it. This one’s not complimentary, though. The food isn’t cheap by Bali standards, but considering this was a 5-star resort, I thought that the price was just. It’s still a lot more affordable than it is back home.

4. The private beach

Since Kayumanis Nusa Dua is located near the beach, it made sense for us to go to the beach. Instead of walking, Reza suggested that we cycle to the beach. Kayumanis let us borrow this tandem bicycle for us to go to the Kayumanis Beach Club and exlplore the beaches of Nusa Dua.

As soon as we arrived at the Kayumanis, we were greeted by a Kayumanis butler, who handed us drinks — anything we wanted, they were complimentary. Compared to the beach clubs of the other hotels nearby, we noticed how serene and clean ours was! Hung out on the lounge chair, sitting underneath big umbrellas for a while before cycling again.

5. Impeccable service

Last but not least, we totally loved the service.

At the moment we first stepped into Kayumanis Nusa Dua, we were always greeted with smiles — from the chauffeur, to the reception and to the butlers that we came across. If we had any requests, all we had to do was to give them a ring and all our requests are attended to shortly. We were mind-blown by the degree of attentiveness and the budi bahasa displayed by the staff and while they’re sorting things out for us they’re always so discreet. Before we know it, the bed’s ready, the fresh towels were hung, the yard and pool were cleaned and the food was served.

There was one time, we returned to the resort after a tour and at the reception, we requested for more matches. By the time we reached our villa… there the matches were, just on the bench in front of our bed! We were so shocked, that we suspect they have these butlers stationed at different parts of the resort, so they could attend to us within minutes. I learned that there are 20 villas, but there are at least 60 staff, on the ground!

They’re very generous, too. From what you’ve read so far you can imagine the complimentary things we’ve received during our stay — from the shuttle, food, drinks and even massage.

Felt like we’re royals throughout our stay.

Final thoughts

It’s the most relaxing trip we’ve ever experienced. We’re so used to staying at cramp places, walking thousands of steps and catching trains and constantly looking for food elsewhere when we travel, that being at Kayumanis Nusa Dua was like a breath of fresh air. We had a super spacious villa to ourselves, with free food, a personal butler to cater to our whims and a chauffeur that could drive us around. Really felt like we were transported to paradise for a moment!

Actually there are a lot more things that you can do at Kayumanis. Like going to the spa, having breakfast by the beach during sunrise, have candle-lit dinner by the beach, BBQ at the villa etc. If you want to go on a tour, the chauffeur can also drive you. All this fancier activities can be arranged for a fee.

Though we decided to splurge like never before on this trip, we felt like we got so much out of Kayumanis Nusa Dua and it was totally worth it. We felt like not leaving the villa at all! So if you seriously need a break or need to celebrate and thinking about splurging for a piece of paradise, make Kayumanis Nusa Dua your destination 🙂

Oh my goodness your stay sounded so divine! I’m heading to Bali for a friend’s wedding in two weeks and decided to stay at Kayumanis and I’m doing my research now, and it looks so amazing! We intended to stay at Kayumanis to take advantage of the amazing service, swim in the pool at any hour of the day for as long as we want, and just relax the whole time (like you, our holidays are usually quite full on!)… until I found out that Bali has more to offer (outside of Kayumanis, haha) but now I just want to cancel all that and just stay at the villa all day every day! We’re only there for 5 days (but only three full days :(). Your pictures look amazinggggg and I couldn’t help but laugh at your breakfast dishes – I think I’m gonna order the whole menu, too – especially if it’s free, LOL! Totally can’t wait! 🙂
