I’ve had my eyes on these Onitsuka Tiger x Andrea Pompilio shoes since I first arrived in Tokyo. It’s different from the usual Onitsuka Tiger sneakers and they look cool. The only thing was it’s almost ¥20,000, not at a price point where I could immediately buy without thinking them over. So I put them on hold, checking them out whenever I pass by the Onitsuka Tiger shop.
When Mama came over I brought her to the store in Odaiba. Before she arrived in Tokyo she was texting me with pictures of black glitter sneakers by Stuart Weitzman and asked me whether she should buy them for traveling, to which I said no and recommended that she get a pair of Onitsuka Tiger instead. So there, she got herself a pair of Nippon Made black sneakers (no glitter involved).
While she was purchasing her shoes, I slipped on the shoes that had been on my wish list for 3 months for the first time.
Omigod it felt so good T.T
At the store Mama asked me if I wanted to get it. She was telling me that I needed to get better shoes for walking because the Rockport mocs that I bought for that sole purpose was used too much and expanded too much that it’s no longer wearable. It slipped off my feet 452 times kot.
But no, I was still not sure if I should.
We were all walking around Omotesando when we saw another Onitsuka Tiger store. There were even more choices there. Mama was going through the shoes again. I immediately looked for the sneakers that I liked. This time, I showed them to Reza (who had just arrived in Tokyo), who gave his seal of approval. He even wanted them for himself 😆
(Though he did ask me why everything I own needed to be black.)
So. I like the OK GLORY HI, which is basically high cut sneakers and GLORY IN HEEL, the heeled version of it. I have no idea why the names are like that.
At the store at Omotesando, I got the chance to try both in my size (the other stores didn’t have them). We were thinking maybe he should get the flat one and me, the heeled version. Though it’s tempting to get heel sneakers, I thought that the flat one was a lot more comfortable and practical.
But I was still not ready to get it.
At last, the sales hit stores just days after that. Reza was asking his friend to check the prices out at the store while we were out and you know what?! The OK GLORY HI sneakers were on sale at 30% off!!!
That night, we went straight to the Odaiba store to get the last pair in my size. So happy! I proudly carried the huge ass box and paperbag home — another case of how my holding back slash patience is rewarded lolol.
It’s my daily shoes to school (nasib baik there’s no strict dress code and it goes well with my Tomorrowland chester coat) and it’s comfortable and allows me to run whenever I’m late 😆
