Seoul

Deciding on Seoul

P1110383

I was asleep.

My phone rang at 1AM and I heard Reza’s voice.

“Babe, kita pegi Seoul nak tak?”

“???”

“I tengah discuss dengan Aizat now…”

Shit sleepy, I was. He was elaborating the super random proposal he had just made, but the only thing I remember after that is asking him to call me back in the morning.

At that time Golden Week was approaching. In the 1st week of May, Japan goes on a week long holiday. They have 3 days of consecutive cuti during the week (I think), so most places terus announce a week’s worth of holiday to their employees. So everyone’s on holiday at the time, which means that chaos was coming to Tokyo and doing everything in Japan would be expensive. Why did this matter?

We would both have long weekends, him in KL and me in Tokyo. KL had its Labor Day weekend and I had the Golden Week, so it was a good opportunity for us to hang.

The thing is, by the time we decided to do anything about it, the flight to either cities were already too expensive. If he were to go to Tokyo, we’d be in more-crowded-than-usual Tokyo, while traveling to other parts of Japan would be expensive, too. If I were to go to KL, it’s the same thing.

Reza was having supper with his BFF Aizat and Kamilla the BFF’s GF in KL on a late night, where they debated on where to go during the long weekend. He only considered Japan (to see me), but they’ve gone to Japan earlier that year, while Aizat, who’s also a Japanese graduate, has been there too many times already. So Reza thought about going to a place that we’ve never been before and suggested Seoul. None of us have been there before and it’s convenient for me to because it’s closer to Tokyo.

Well, the flight to Seoul was still expensive for both of us, but at least it’s like going on an adventure instead of routine i.e. KL and Tokyo.

Tickets were bought, bookings were made and itinerary set, before we knew it we were off to Seoul.

I wasn’t the most excited person to go to Seoul in the beginning, no thanks to Liyana who basically said Seoul has nothing 😆 I’m happy to say I made the best of the trip, that Reza and I really enjoyed it!

    Hi Mia,

This is my first time to leave a comment here. Can’t wait to read more of your Seoul post because it’s my favourite city. One day I hope I can experience the same thing like you; learn and live in the favourite city 😀
